ViewLux Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have a ViewLux paver driveway or patio and a section of it has failed, we can match the existing material and install the replacement, typically for $8260 – $21240 depending on the square footage and reset work involved. Most Los Angeles homeowners discover the problem the obvious way: a paver that’s cracked under a car tire, a low spot that ponds water after a January storm, or an edge row that’s begun to wander into the flower bed. Trapped moisture under the pavers is almost always what’s behind it.
The good news is you don’t usually have to replace the whole driveway. We regularly pull the failed pavers, rebuild the base they’re sitting on, and reset the same stones so the repair blends with the original layout. ViewLux makes a well-sized modular paver, and when the base underneath was never compacted properly, that’s typically the first thing to fail. Penhallow Remodeling Los Angeles is an independent service provider, not affiliated with ViewLux, but we work with their product line on driveways, walkways, and patios across Los Angeles every year.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux produces driveway pavers in a few distinct profiles, and the way to confirm compatibility is simpler than most people expect. Flip over a loose paver, or check the pallet label if you kept one from the original install. You’ll see a product code stamped along the bottom edge. The most common ViewLux driveway lines we see in Los Angeles are their 60mm and 80mm-thick paver series. The 60mm is fine for foot traffic and light patio use, but a driveway taking regular vehicle weight should be set on the 80mm product. That’s a compatibility gotcha worth knowing: if a previous contractor laid 60mm pavers on a driveway, shifting, cracking, and edge failure show up within the first three to five years.
ViewLux does not currently support every historic color blend; some of the older, warmer terracotta and sand tones were discontinued. If we can’t source an exact color match from current production, we can often pull pavers from a less visible section of your own driveway, say along a side path or behind a gate, and place the newer, closely matched material there instead. It keeps the street-facing surface consistent without waiting on a custom order that may no longer be produced.

Signs Your ViewLux Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- Standing water in low spots after rain. The base material beneath the pavers has washed out or settled unevenly. In Los Angeles, the wet season is short but intense, and water that can’t drain through a clogged joint will start eroding the bedding layer.
- Pavers rocking or shifting underfoot. This means the sand or aggregate base has compacted unevenly, which is almost always an installation issue, not a ViewLux material defect. A paver that moves means the base isn’t holding it.
- Cracked pavers near the driveway edges or along the curb line. Edge restraints either weren’t installed or have pulled away. Without a solid edge, vehicle tires push the outer pavers outward, and a crack is just a matter of time.
- Weeds or ants pushing up through the joints. The joint sand has compacted, washed out, or was never filled with the right material. Polymeric sand, properly set, does a far better job than standard sand at keeping this down.
- A visible dip where the trash bin or car tires sit. This is a base failure, not a surface one. The only permanent fix is pulling the pavers, repairing the base, and relaying the section.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a ViewLux driveway repair or reset in Los Angeles, a partial repair with base work and resetting existing pavers typically runs $8260 – $21240 depending on the area involved and how much base needs to be excavated and rebuilt. A small patio repair that doesn’t require heavy base work can fall lower. A full paver driveway installation on a new base runs to the top of that range, especially on larger Los Angeles driveways where access, grading, and drainage matter.
What drives the number: how deep we have to dig to reach stable soil, whether the existing base material can be recompacted or must be hauled away, and whether you need additional matching ViewLux pavers beyond what we can salvage. You get a written price before any work starts, and the number on that sheet is the number on the invoice. If the repair fails inside 365 days, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s covered in writing on every project. And if it needs a second visit, the visit is free.
DIY or Call Us?
Some things are worth checking yourself before you call. Walk the driveway after a heavy rain and note where water sits. Check the outside edges for pavers that have drifted. Push gently on any paver that looks proud or sunken to see if it moves. Those observations help us quote the job accurately over the phone.
But base repair is not a weekend project. Lifting pavers is easy; rebuilding the compacted aggregate base beneath them so the repair doesn’t fail in six months is a different trade entirely. If the base is bad, you’d be pulling heavy stones and hauling material for a patch that will settle again. That’s when you call somebody who does this in Los Angeles clay and decomposed granite for a living. Give us a call at (213) 277-6578 and Trevor will tell you plainly whether it’s a small reset or a base rebuild before anyone picks up a shovel.
FAQs

A ViewLux paver driveway on a properly compacted base should last 20 to 30 years in the Los Angeles climate, with the surface itself holding up longer than the base and edge restraints beneath it. The pavers don’t fail; the base does. If your base was built correctly and the edge restraints were installed, you’re mostly maintaining joint sand every few years, not replacing pavers.
Yes, in most cases you can repair a failed section of ViewLux pavers rather than replacing the entire driveway. We pull the affected area, rebuild the base, and reset the same pavers or a close match, depending on the timeline of the original install. Call us at (213) 277-6578 with the rough square footage and we’ll give you a number to work with.
A typical ViewLux driveway paver repair in Los Angeles takes two to three working days, depending on how deep we have to go and how many pavers need resetting. The excavation and base rebuild are the longest part; laying and jointing the pavers is usually a single focused day.
We keep common ViewLux driveway pavers on the truck in standard gray and charcoal tones, which covers a large share of Los Angeles driveways we’re called to repair. For less common colors or discontinued blends, we source from ViewLux distributors in the area, and if an exact match isn’t available new, we’ll pull matching pavers from a less visible part of your property. Call (213) 277-6578 and we’ll tell you what we can get before you commit to anything.
