Mr-Glass Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Mr-Glass-compatible driveway and paver components, and a full paver driveway installation in Los Angeles typically runs $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base prep, and paver style. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a paver starts rocking underfoot after rain, a section of the driveway settles a half inch, or a joint between pavers opens up and weeds push through. You don’t need to guess which part failed. We’ll identify it, price it in writing, and fix it so the surrounding surface doesn’t follow.
We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a Mr-Glass corporate entity. That matters because we match parts to your existing surface rather than pushing a full replacement when a targeted fix will do.
Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass pavers and driveway systems run in a few distinct series lines, and the compatibility gotcha most owners hit is this: the newer interlocking paver lines use a 60mm thickness standard, while the older segmented driveway blocks measure 80mm. You cannot swap one for the other without redoing the base elevation, which turns a simple repair into a much bigger job. We check the paver thickness and the joint width before ordering anything.
Look at the underside of a loose paver. Mr-Glass stamps a series code there, usually two letters followed by a number, like MG-4 or MG-7. If the stamp is worn off, measure the thickness with a tape measure. That measurement tells us which line you have. For driveway applications specifically, Mr-Glass produced a heavier-gauge paver with a chamfered top edge; those hold up better under vehicle weight but cost more to replace than the patio-grade versions some owners mix in by mistake.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Mr-Glass driveway pavers, a quality aftermarket match from a domestic manufacturer is often indistinguishable and runs 15 – 25% less. We stock both and will tell you when the OEM upcharge isn’t worth it.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- A single paver rocks or wobbles when you step on it. This almost always means the sand bedding beneath that paver has washed out or compacted unevenly. Left alone, the rocking paver starts cracking at its edges because it’s flexing under load.
- You see a low spot forming along the tire path. In Los Angeles, this usually means the aggregate base wasn’t compacted deeply enough for our clay-heavy soils. Water pools there, then the soil swells, and the problem accelerates each winter rainy season.
- Joint sand keeps disappearing, even a week after you sweep it in. That’s a sign the paver joints have widened past spec, usually from edge restraint failure. The pavers drift outward slowly, and eventually the outside row separates from the driveway.
- White, chalky residue blooms across several pavers. You’re seeing efflorescence, mineral salts leaching through. It’s not usually structural, but it tells you water is moving through the paver body, which means the drainage layer below isn’t doing its job.
- Cracks start at a paver edge and run diagonal across the face. Once the base fails under one paver, the surrounding pavers take load they weren’t designed for. A three-paver crack pattern is the classic warning that a section of base needs re-laying, not just one paver swapped.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what you can expect to pay in Los Angeles for the common Mr-Glass driveway and paver fixes:
- Single paver replacement: $35 – $95 per paver, installed, depending on series and thickness.
- Section re-lay (up to 100 sq ft): $1,200 – $2,600, including base re-grade and fresh joint sand.
- Full paver driveway installation: $8,260 – $21,240, including excavation, base, sand bedding, pavers, edge restraint, and joint sand.
- Driveway replacement (mixed paver and concrete): $5,900 – $16,520.
- Driveway sealing (existing pavers): $295 – $825 for standard two-car drives.
The range comes down to three things: how much base repair the job needs, which Mr-Glass series you have, and access. A driveway with a tricky slope or a retaining wall along one edge costs more. Every quote is written out line by line before any work starts, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the repair in writing. If it fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: identify a rocking paver, note where water pools after rain, and photograph any cracks. What you should not do is pull a driveway paver in the middle of a load-bearing run and re-set it with bagged sand from the hardware store. Once you break the edge restraint or disturb the compacted base, the surrounding pavers start shifting within weeks. Driveway pavers carry vehicle weight; a bad re-set turns into a tripping hazard and a bigger repair.

FAQs

A properly installed Mr-Glass paver driveway lasts 25 – 40 years in Los Angeles, with the pavers themselves often outlasting the base beneath them. The base fails first in our climate: our clay soils expand and contract with seasonal moisture, and a base compacted to less than industry standard will show settlement within five to seven years. The pavers themselves can usually be re-used if the base is re-laid. Call (213) 277-6578 and we’ll tell you if your pavers are salvageable, free.
No. Once a concrete paver cracks, it has lost structural integrity and will keep splitting under load. Repair compounds and epoxy filler hold for a season at best, and they leave a visible patch that looks worse than a new paver. Replacement is the honest fix, and at $35 – $95 per paver installed, it’s cheaper than most people expect. Call (213) 277-6578 for an exact quote.
A single-paver swap takes under an hour once we’re on site, and a 100-square-foot section re-lay is usually a one-day job. A full driveway runs three to five days including base work and compaction. We give you a written arrival window before the job and a written price before any work starts.
We stock the two most common Mr-Glass driveway series and the matching joint sand on our trucks, so most single-paver and small-section repairs are same-visit jobs. If your paver is an older or discontinued series, we order it and typically have it in hand within five business days. Either way, you’ll know the timeline before we start.
If your Mr-Glass driveway or pavers are failing, don’t wait for the rainy season to make it worse. Call (213) 277-6578 for a free estimate, a written price, and a repair that’s covered in writing.
