Moen Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you’re searching for Moen kitchen remodeling help in Los Angeles, you’re likely holding a faucet that drips at midnight, a pull-down sprayer that hangs limp, or a cartridge that’s seized inside the valve body. We stock the common Moen replacement cartridges, spray wands, and trim kits on our trucks, and a typical Moen fixture swap or cartridge rebuild in Los Angeles runs $265 – $680 installed depending on the model and access behind the sink. Most kitchen faucet repairs are done in a single visit, no drywall opened, no cabinet pulled.
What brings most Los Angeles homeowners to this page is a faucet that’s failed slowly. First a drip at the spout when the handle sits at rest. Then a handle that turns too far, or a sprayer that won’t retract without a shove. By the time someone calls us, they’ve usually jiggled the handle sideways for a month hoping it would seat. Trevor Nash has pulled Moen cartridges out of Crenshaw bungalow sinks that looked like they’d been marinating in hard water since the Clinton administration. That’s the honest starting point for this conversation.
Which Moen Models This Applies To

Moen’s kitchen lineup in Los Angeles homes splits into a few families: the pull-down faucets (the Brantford, Arbor, Align, Banbury, and Kaden lines), the pull-out models (Brenner, Sleek), and the single-handle bar faucets you see on kitchen islands from Hancock Park to Sherman Oaks. Most of these use Moen’s 1255 Duralast cartridge, which fits the vast majority of single-handle Moen kitchen faucets made in the last 15 years. The gotcha: some newer motion-sense and touchless Moen faucets use a different internal solenoid assembly, and the older 1225 brass cartridge shows up in homes that were built before 2000. If you don’t know the model, look at the tag under the sink or the etched number on the underside of the spout base. Or call us and read us what you see. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it takes a 1255, a 1225, or something else entirely.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Moen’s genuine 1255 cartridge carries a lifetime warranty from Moen, and they honor it even if you bought the house with the faucet already installed. The aftermarket brass versions cost about a third less and work, but we’ve seen too many develop a sticky rotation within two years in Los Angeles water conditions. We’ll install an aftermarket cartridge if you specifically want it, but our default is the genuine Moen part because the warranty follows it.

Signs Your Moen Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drip at the spout when the handle is off. This is the 1255 cartridge’s rubber seats wearing out. The fix is a cartridge swap, not a new faucet, and it’s the single most common Moen repair we do across Los Angeles.
- Handle turns too far or flops loose. The cartridge’s rotational stops have worn, or the handle screw underneath the set-screw cap has backed off. Sometimes it’s a 30-second adjustment. Sometimes the cartridge’s internal limit ring has cracked, which means replacement.
- Sprayer won’t retract or dribbles in spray mode. The weight under the sink has slid down the hose, or the diverter inside the spout body is clogged with mineral buildup. Los Angeles water is moderately hard; calcium collects inside the diverter ports and kills spray pressure.
- Grinding or squeaking when you swing the spout. The O-rings at the spout base have dried out. Without lubrication they’ll score the brass body, and then you’re replacing the entire spout assembly rather than two rubber rings.
- Water seeping from the base of the handle or at the escutcheon. That’s the cartridge body seal failing, and on a Moen it usually means the cartridge has been in there since the fixture was installed. In Los Angeles, that’s often 10 to 20 years of daily use.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a Moen kitchen faucet cartridge replacement typically lands between $265 and $480 with the part and labor included. A full faucet replacement, where you’re after a new finish or a different spout height, runs $680 to $1,420 installed depending on the model and whether the sink or countertop needs any modification to fit it. If the faucet is part of a larger kitchen remodel, Moen fixtures are integrated into that scope, and the full kitchen remodel ranges from $16,520 to $53,100 in this market.
Every Moen repair we do in Los Angeles comes with a written price before we turn a wrench. No verbal ballpark, no change order after we open the wall. The price we quote is the price on the invoice. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing, and the Moen parts carry Moen’s own warranty on top of that. We also work with KraftMaid and Cambria cabinets and Silestone countertops for kitchens that need more than a faucet refresh.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things without touching a tool. Look under the sink and confirm the sprayer weight is still attached. Look at the base of the handle for a small set-screw cover and see if the handle itself is loose. Wiggle the handle gently and feel whether it moves in directions it shouldn’t. Those observations help you describe the problem to us accurately.
What you should not do is force a seized cartridge out of a Moen body with a pipe wrench. The brass collar is thin, and one over-torqued twist will gall the threads and turn a $300 repair into a new faucet. That happens more than you’d think, particularly in Los Angeles homes where the hard water has bonded the cartridge to the body over a decade. It’s one of the few places in a kitchen where the problem is safer left to someone who’s done it a few hundred times. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools. Call (213) 277-6578.
FAQs

Moen kitchen faucets in Los Angeles typically last 12 to 20 years before the cartridge needs replacement, with hard water and daily use being the two biggest factors that shorten the lifespan. The finish usually outlasts the internals, which is why a cartridge swap makes more sense than a full replacement in most cases. Call (213) 277-6578 if you’re not sure which part you need.
Yes, in the majority of Los Angeles homes the fix is a $265 to $480 cartridge replacement rather than a $680-plus full faucet swap. We’ll tell you plainly which direction makes sense for your model, and we won’t sell you a new faucet when a cartridge gets you five more years.
Most Moen cartridge replacements take 45 to 90 minutes from the time we walk in to the time we test the faucet and pack up. If the old cartridge is seized and we need to work it out carefully with penetrating oil and heat, budget a little longer. Either way it’s a same-day job in almost every case.
We stock Moen 1255 Duralast cartridges, 1225 brass cartridges, common spray wand replacements, and assorted O-ring kits on our trucks when we roll out in Los Angeles. If your faucet needs a less common trim piece, we’ll source it through our trade suppliers and have it ready before the return visit. Call (213) 277-6578 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
No. The written price we give you before the job begins is the number on the invoice when we finish, unless you ask us to add scope. That’s the Kingswell standard, and we’ve operated under it since 2004. If the repair fails within the first year, we come back and fix it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
