• Chipping at the paver edges, especially within the first two feet off the sidewalk. That’s usually from tire-load compression shifting the slab. The base layer has a void or has compacted unevenly, and the paver is taking the flex.
• Hairline cracks spreading diagonally across slabs rather than along joints. Quartz surfaces don’t bend. A crack like that usually means the slab below expanded from heat, and the Caesarstone on top absorbed stress it wasn’t designed to take.
• Standing water pooling near the garage door after rain. Most Los Angeles driveways are sloped to drain toward the street. When the surface settles, that slope flattens and sends water the wrong direction.
