Ameristar Roofing: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have an Ameristar roof and a part has failed, you want the right component matched to your exact system and a straight price to install it. We carry Ameristar-compatible roofing parts for Los Angeles homes and most replacements run $470 – $2,125 installed, depending on what failed and how much of the surrounding roof is involved. Most homeowners discover the problem the same way: a ceiling stain after the first real rain of the season, granules collecting in the gutter after a wind event, or a section of roof that suddenly looks different from the rest.
We are an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a division of Ameristar. That distinction matters because we can match your roof to OEM parts or quality aftermarket equivalents without being tied to one supplier’s price sheet. Trevor Nash runs Penhallow Remodeling Los Angeles, and his rule applies here the same as on a kitchen remodel: give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar has manufactured asphalt shingle lines, metal roofing panels, and rolled roofing for residential use. The three most common Ameristar product families we see on Los Angeles homes are their architectural asphalt shingle series, their standing seam metal panel systems, and their self-adhered roll roofing used on low-slope sections like porch covers and patio overhangs.
The compatibility gotcha: Ameristar has changed their shingle adhesive strips and nail line placement twice since 2015. A bundle of current-production shingles will not seal correctly against older Ameristar shingles on the same slope, even if the color name matches. You need the lot number off the original bundle wrapper, or a physical sample so we can match the profile, thickness, and seal pattern. For metal systems, the critical dimension is the rib height and panel width, which Ameristar stamps on the underside of each panel. If that stamp has faded or been painted over, we measure the panel and match it to the current Ameristar spec sheet for Los Angeles’s wind zone. We stock the common Ameristar-compatible fasteners, flashing profiles, and sealants on the truck. If your part is outside what we carry, most Ameristar OEM pieces are available within two to three business days through our Los Angeles suppliers.

Signs Your Ameristar Roofing Is Failing
- Ceiling stains or paint bubbling near exterior walls. Water has breached the roof or flashing and is traveling along the sheathing before it finds a seam in the drywall. By the time you see the stain, the leak has usually been active for weeks.
- Granules accumulating in gutters or at downspout exits. Asphalt shingles shed granules as the surface layer breaks down. A consistent pile of granules means the shingles are in active decline, not just aging normally. On a Los Angeles roof, UV does more damage than rain, and granule loss is the first visible sign of that damage.
- Shingles that are cracked, curling at the edges, or lifting in the wind. The asphalt layer has lost flexibility. In Los Angeles, especially in the Valley where summer roof surface temperatures run 140 – 160°F, shingles cook from above and can fail years before the warranty period ends.
- Rust streaks on metal panels or fasteners backing out. Standing seam systems rely on a gasket fastening system. When the gaskets dry out and crack, the fastener loosens and water follows the screw shaft. One loose panel corner in a windstorm can start a peel that takes the whole panel off.
- Rolled roofing peeling at the seams or pulling away from the drip edge. On low-slope sections, the failure usually begins at the lap joints or the edge terminations. Once water gets under the edge, the self-adhered layer releases and the problem spreads quickly.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed Ameristar roof repairs in Los Angeles run $470 – $2,125 for a typical section repair. A shingle replacement on a small slope section, a single panel swap, or a rolled roofing seam repair sits at the lower end. Work that requires replacing rotted sheathing, re-flashing a chimney or skylight, or rebuilding a valley runs toward the top of that range. Full replacements are a different scope: a complete Ameristar-compatible reroof in Los Angeles typically runs $9,440 – $23,600 depending on roof size, pitch, and whether you are in a fire zone with stricter material requirements.
What you get in writing before work starts: the exact parts or equivalents, the labor, the disposal of the old material, and the total price. We do not give you a range and then bill the high end. The number we write down is the number on the invoice. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge, and the return visit is free. That is not a verbal assurance. It is printed on the estimate and on the invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can do safely from the ground. Check your gutters for granules. Look for missing or shifted shingles from your yard. Note where water stains appear inside and when they appear. Those observations help us give you a faster, more accurate diagnosis.
What you should not do is get on the roof. Los Angeles roofing work involves steep pitches, and failures often happen at the edges and valleys where footing is worst. A shingle that looks simple from the ground often has water damage in the sheathing underneath, and walking that area is how people end up in emergency rooms. The same goes for working with a nail gun on a slope. If the roof is low-slope and you want to inspect a small rolled roofing seam from a ladder, that is reasonable, but do not attempt a repair. A temporary patch that traps water against the decking will cause more damage than the original leak. If you think the part needs replacement, call us at (213) 277-6578. We will inspect it, explain exactly what failed, and give you a written price before we touch anything.
FAQs

Ameristar asphalt shingles typically last 15 – 20 years in Los Angeles, sometimes less on exposed south-facing and west-facing slopes where UV degradation accelerates. Metal systems typically last 30 – 40 years with fastener and gasket maintenance. Those are honest numbers for our climate, not the marketing figures printed on the wrapper. If you want an assessment of where your roof sits in that timeline, call (213) 277-6578 and we will evaluate it for free.
Yes, if the failure is isolated and the surrounding material still has structural integrity. We repair Ameristar shingle sections, single metal panels, flashing, and rolled roofing seams regularly. The repair needs to make sense economically: if more than a third of the slope is failing, a section replacement is usually the better long-term call. We will tell you which one makes sense and write the price for whichever you choose. Call (213) 277-6578 and we will give you a straight answer.
Most Ameristar roof repairs take a single day, from removal of the old material to final cleanup. Larger section replacements or repairs that involve sheathing replacement can run two days. We give you a defined arrival window and we keep it. That window is part of the written estimate, not a guess.
We stock common Ameristar-compatible fasteners, flashing profiles, sealants, and ridge components on the truck. For shingle color and profile matches, we typically source the exact OEM product from our Los Angeles suppliers within two to three business days. We will tell you upfront whether your part is in stock or needs to be ordered, and the written estimate reflects any wait time. If you need an answer on a specific part, call (213) 277-6578 and describe what you have; we will look it up while you are on the line.
When it comes to the roofing over your Los Angeles home, the right part matters, and so does the person installing it. We also stock compatible parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products, so if the roof repair reveals a larger remodeling project, we can talk through that too. You will get the same written price, the same arrival window, and the same 365-Day Done Right Promise on every job. Call (213) 277-6578 for a free estimate on your Ameristar roof repair.
