Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you have an Ameristar kitchen and a component has failed or is showing wear, we can match it, price it, and install the replacement. Typical Ameristar-related kitchen remodeling work in Los Angeles runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on scope, cabinet line, and countertop material. Most owners discover the problem when a hinge gives out, a drawer stops closing, or a countertop seam separates along the sink run.

Penhallow Remodeling Los Angeles is an independent contractor, not affiliated with Ameristar. We work on Ameristar kitchens regularly because the cabinetry and hardware spec is common across the Basin, and our suppliers keep the replacement channels open.

Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar kitchen cabinetry isn’t a single model line. It’s a brand carried through regional suppliers, and the boxes come in a few construction grades. What matters more than the model number is the box construction: most Ameristar cabinets we pull in Los Angeles homes are either framed (face-frame with 1/2″ sides) or frameless (full-overlay, 3/4″ panels). The hinge style tells you which one you have. Face-frame boxes use a compact cup hinge with a narrow mounting plate. Frameless boxes use a full-overlay hinge with a wider plate and more adjustment travel.

Locate the label inside the sink base cabinet door or on the drawer box side. Ameristar stamps a date code and a cabinet series there, usually a two-letter prefix followed by digits. Take a photo of that label before you call anyone. It identifies the finish color and door profile so the replacement part actually matches. If the label is gone, measure the door thickness and the hinge cup diameter. Most Ameristar doors are 3/4″ thick with a 35mm cup. That measurement alone gets us to the right hinge part family.

For hardware replacement, OEM Ameristar parts are preferred when the finish is still current. But for hinges and drawer glides, we often recommend a quality aftermarket equivalent from Blum or Salice. The aftermarket glide often carries a longer cycle rating than what shipped originally, and it installs in the same mounting footprint.

Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Door sagging or dragging against the frame. The hinge plate has loosened or the cup screw stripped. On face-frame Ameristar boxes, we see this most often on the trash pullout and the corner upper cabinet.
  • Drawer sticks or falls off the rail. The undermount glide clip snapped or the glide lost its ball bearings. Los Angeles dust gets into the rails and accelerates wear, especially in homes near the 405 or 110 corridors.
  • Lazy Susan or corner mechanism won’t rotate. The plastic pivot collar cracked. This is the single most common Ameristar failure we fix in kitchens built between 2004 and 2012.
  • Hardware finish is pitting or peeling. Brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze Ameristar pulls fail faster within five miles of the coast. Salt air from Santa Monica Bay eats the clear coat, then the base metal pits.
  • Adjustable shelf pins keep falling out. The metal sleeve in the cabinet side loosened or the pin bent. This happens when shelf clips are overloaded in pantries.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

For a focused Ameristar repair, like swapping failed hinges across a full kitchen and replacing a damaged drawer glide set, you’re typically looking at $300 to $900 including parts and labor. For a broader refresh that pulls in new Ameristar-compatible doors or drawer fronts, expect $4,720 to $15,340. If you’re asking us to replace the cabinetry entirely or reface the Ameristar boxes with new doors and panels, the full range is $16,520 to $53,100 depending on layout size, door profile, and whether we’re also replacing countertops.

Every price we give is written before any work starts. You’ll see the part line items, the labor, and the disposal all broken out. The number on day one is the number on the invoice. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the repair in writing: if the replacement hinge, glide, or mechanism fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely tighten hinge screws, adjust the height and side travel on a standard cup hinge, and replace a pull or knob. Those are ten-minute fixes with a Phillips screwdriver. The line I draw is at drawer glide replacement and anything that requires pulling a cabinet face off. Undermount glides on Ameristar boxes are spring-loaded, and the release tabs sit behind the drawer box. One wrong pry and you’ll split the drawer bottom.

There’s no high-tension component here like a garage door spring, so the risk isn’t severe injury. The risk is damaging a cabinet that’s already hard to match. If the drawer stopped gliding, call us at (213) 277-6578. We’ll identify the glide series, confirm the part, and replace it cleanly. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
