Dvele Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Dvele bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles typically runs $10,620 – $33,040 installed, depending on your Dvele model’s wall system, fixture package, and how much of the original prefabricated shell we’re cutting into. We stock Dvele-compatible plumbing fixtures, shower pans, and trim kits on our trucks, so most remodels are ready to start within a week of your walkthrough. The typical sign something’s gone wrong: water staining at the base of the shower pan or a fixture that never quite sealed against Dvele’s composite wall panels.
We’re an independent remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Dvele. That matters because most of what we see on Dvele bathrooms isn’t a Dvele product failure. It’s an installation or integration point that was never right from day one, and the fix means understanding how Dvele’s off-site-built wall assemblies behave differently than stick framing.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele builds homes off-site in their Loma Linda and Baja facilities, then ships modules to the Los Angeles basin and sets them on foundations. That means your bathroom’s framing, plumbing rough-ins, and waterproofing system came together in a factory, not on your lot. The bathroom walls in most Dvele homes use magnesium oxide board over steel framing with a whole-house air barrier behind it. That’s different from the cement board-over-wood you’d find in a conventional Los Angeles remodel, and it changes everything about how we cut, anchor, and seal.
The remodel scope depends on your Dvele series. The Selene and Del Mar lines use similar bathroom cores with wall-hung vanities and low-flow Kohler or Toto fixtures as standard. The Laguna line has larger primary bathrooms with curbless showers in many floor plans. Before we touch anything, we pull the shower trim plate and the vanity kick panel to confirm the fixture model, drain type, and whether your bathroom sits on a module seam. Module seams are the gotcha: if your shower wall spans the seam between two factory-built sections and the original waterproofing wasn’t lapped correctly, that’s where the failure starts, and no amount of re-caulking will fix it.
On OEM versus aftermarket: for Dvele bathrooms, we use OEM-equivalent fixtures whenever possible because the rough-in valves and drain bodies are spec’d to Kohler, Toto, or Moen models originally installed at the factory. Aftermarket trim kits look the same on the shelf but the stem depth can be off by a quarter inch, and on a Dvele panel system that quarter inch turns into a gap that leaks. When we do use aftermarket, it’s always from the same manufacturers Dvele uses, and we verify the spec sheet against the original rough-in before ordering.

Signs Your Dvele Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Water staining at the shower pan or tub base. This is the big one. In Los Angeles, the seasonal dry air means a small leak can hide for months before staining shows. If you see discoloration at the pan edge, the waterproofing membrane or the drain seal has compromised, and the fix is a pan replacement or a full shower re-build depending on how far water traveled.
- Grout cracking along the module seam. Dvele homes ship in sections and settle differently than site-built homes. The seam between modules flexes, and any tile or panel joint spanning that line will eventually crack. We address this with a movement joint and a flexible sealant, not more grout.
- Vanity pulling off the wall or sagging. Wall-hung vanities are common in Dvele homes, and if the mounting wasn’t into steel studs with proper anchors from day one, you’ll see gapping at the top or the whole unit shifting. We re-secure to the steel framing with the right anchors, not drywall anchors.
- Musty smell with no visible leak. That smell means moisture is trapped behind the wall panel. Dvele’s air barrier means moisture can’t escape the way it would in a conventional home, so it sits and feeds mold inside the cavity. We do a moisture probe and open the panel at the lowest point to dry it out before any cosmetic fix.
- Shower valve that won’t hold temperature. If you’re constantly fighting the handle to keep water warm, the pressure-balancing cartridge has failed or the valve was installed backwards at the factory. Either way, it’s a cartridge swap, and on Dvele’s panel system we can do it through the trim opening without cutting the wall.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Dvele bathroom remodel in Los Angeles runs $10,620 – $33,040. The low end is a tub-to-shower conversion or fixture package swap on a small guest bath. The high end is a primary bathroom gut-to-studs with curbless shower, custom vanity, and paneling replacement where water did hidden damage.
What moves the number: whether we’re cutting into the magnesium oxide wall panels or working within the existing openings; whether the shower pan is a standard size or needs a custom pour; whether the drain body is PVC or cast iron; and whether your Dvele bathroom sits on a module seam needing structural blocking. We give you the part cost and the labor cost as separate line items, so you see exactly what you’re paying for. Every remodel includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if something fails within a year of completion, we return and fix it at no charge. No service fee, no re-inspection fee, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do: remove the shower trim plate and check for mineral buildup on the cartridge (that’s a $0 fix with vinegar and an old toothbrush). Check caulk lines at the pan and tile edges for gaps; re-caulking is a homeowner-level task if you use a mildewcide-blend silicone. And make sure your bathroom exhaust fan is actually pulling air by holding a tissue to the grill while it runs.
Where DIY goes wrong on a Dvele: cutting into mag-oxide panels without knowing the steel stud layout, pulling the vanity before understanding it’s the only thing covering a module seam, or using the wrong fasteners and compromising the air barrier. For anything involving the waterproofing layer, the drain assembly, or cutting panels, call a professional. FAQs

A properly installed Dvele bathroom should give you 15 – 20 years before fixtures wear out and design choices feel dated. In Los Angeles, the real variable is hard water from the Colorado River Aqueduct supply: without a water softener, shower valves and cartridges can fail in as little as 8 – 10 years from mineral scaling. We see that regularly in Long Beach and San Pedro, where the water is harder than the Valley or the Westside.
Yes, and we prefer repair when the underlying structure is sound. A shower valve cartridge replacement runs $295 – $590, a vanity re-secure runs $350 – $800, and a caulk-and-seal refresh is the least expensive first step. If the waterproofing has failed or water damage is visible, repair stops making sense and a targeted remodel of the wet area is the honest answer. Call (213) 277-6578 and we’ll tell you which one it is before you spend a dollar.
A fixture swap or shower replacement typically takes 2 – 4 days. A full bathroom remodel with panel replacement and custom work runs 2 – 3 weeks depending on whether we’re waiting on a custom vanity or a non-standard shower pan. We give you a written arrival window before work starts and a written schedule you can hold us to.
We stock common Dvele-compatible parts on our trucks: Kohler and Moen pressure-balancing cartridges, standard and low-threshold shower drain assemblies, and trim kits for the fixtures most often specified in Dvele’s Selene and Del Mar lines. For less common items, like the Toto wall-hung toilet carrier or a custom module-seam transition profile, we source from our Los Angeles suppliers within 2 – 3 business days. We also stock parts for kitchen brands like KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone if your remodel extends into the kitchen.
No, with one exception. The number we give you in writing is the number on the invoice unless we open a wall and find water damage or structural issues that were invisible from the outside. If that happens, we stop, show you what we found, and give you a new written number before we do anything else. We don’t send change orders for surprises we should have caught in the walkthrough.
