Cover Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Cover-compatible driveway and paver components across Los Angeles, with most paver driveway installations running $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver line. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably noticed something wrong: a sunken section near the curb, pavers shifting around the drain, or a crack spreading across the surface after last winter’s rains. Most owners discover the failure the same way: standing in the driveway with a coffee, looking down, and wondering when that gap got so wide.

We’re an independent Los Angeles service provider, not affiliated with Cover. What we are is a local crew that’s pulled up more failing paver bases in this city than we can count, and we’ll match the right part to your existing layout without guessing.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

A whole-home remodel with the living, dining and kitchen areas opened up

Cover’s paver and driveway systems fall into two broad families: modular concrete pavers (interlocking units, typically 60mm or 80mm thick for vehicular use) and slab-style concrete or stone surfaces. The part you need depends on what failed. If individual pavers are cracked or spalled, you’re replacing units. If the surface is sinking, the part is the base and the pavers are reusable. If the edge restraint has let go, that’s a different fix entirely.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Los Angeles homeowners don’t see coming: pavers from different production runs won’t match, even from the same manufacturer. Color shifts slightly, dimensions drift a millimeter or two, and the new units stand out against the old. We measure and match against your existing pavers before ordering anything, and we’ll tell you honestly if a spot-match is realistic or if the whole section should be redone. For OEM Cover components, we source through regional distributors who stock current production. For older runs or discontinued colors, a quality aftermarket equivalent from Belgard or Unilock often matches better than a new OEM unit that’s two shade cycles off. That’s a call we make with you, not for you.

Signs Your Cover Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • The low spot by the street. Los Angeles soil, especially in the Valley and areas with clay content, expands and contracts with moisture. When the base underneath settles unevenly, the pavers follow. This is almost always a base failure, not a paver failure.
  • Pavers rocking underfoot. If individual units wobble when you step on them, the sand jointing has washed out or the bedding layer has thinned. Left alone, the edges chip and the wobble spreads to neighboring units.
  • Weeds between every third paver. Weeds don’t cause the failure, but they’re a symptom. When joint sand is gone and gaps open up, water gets in, the base erodes, and you’ve got a slow-motion sinkhole in the making.
  • Edge pavers pulling away from the border. The edge restraint is the unsung hero of any paver driveway. When it fails, the whole field starts drifting outward under tire load. You’ll see a widening gap along one side first.
  • Standing water after a light rain. Your driveway should drain. If a puddle sits for more than a few hours, the slope has flattened or the base has settled. In Los Angeles, standing water also means mosquitos and algae, not just a cosmetic issue.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A built-in window seat in a bay window

For a paver driveway installation in Los Angeles, expect $8,260 – $21,240. The spread comes down to three things: total square footage (a two-car driveway runs 400 – 600 square feet), what we find under the existing surface (clean compacted base versus old asphalt or tree roots that need removal), and the paver line you choose. A concrete driveway replacement runs $5,310 – $14,160, and full driveway replacement, with demolition and haul-away, lands between $5,900 and $16,520.

Every quote includes the written price, the materials, the labor, the base prep, haul-away of old material, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the pavers shift or the base settles inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. We don’t do verbal ballparks. Trevor Nash will give you a number first, then pick up the tools.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect your own driveway. Walk it, mark the low spots with chalk, note where the weeds are thickest, and check whether the edges feel solid. That’s useful information for us, and it’ll make your estimate more accurate.

Where DIY goes wrong is the base. A paver driveway lives or dies on its substrate: the compacted gravel and sand layers underneath. Get that wrong and you’ll have a beautiful driveway for six months and a wavy mess by the following spring. It’s heavy work, it’s dirty, and the equipment rental alone often eats into any savings. If you’re dealing with a couple of loose pavers in a walkway, that’s a weekend job. If your driveway is sinking, call (213) 277-6578 and let’s talk about it before you move any earth.
