ViewLux Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
ViewLux fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 depending on footage, post depth, gate count, and whether we’re pulling an old fence line first. We stock ViewLux-compatible posts, rails, and lattice panels, and most full fence replacements we schedule within a five to seven business day window once the scope is written. The call usually comes in one of two ways: a panel cracked at the corner after a Santa Ana wind event, or a post that’s gone soft at the base from irrigation overspray and no longer holds the rail true.
We are an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a ViewLux dealer or warranty affiliate. That means when we pull your existing panels, we’re matching the profiles, spacing, and fastener locations to what’s already on your property, not steering you toward a brand upsell.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux vinyl fencing spans a few distinct product lines, and the parts are not always interchangeable between them. The most common in Los Angeles backyards is the Classic privacy line, which uses a tongue-and-groove picket profile with a 5/8-inch routed top rail. The Estate series looks similar at a glance, but its posts are 5×5 walled extrusions, not the 4×4 found on Classic, and the bottom rails are notched differently. If you’ve got one line at the side yard and a different one around the pool, the rails will not swap between them cleanly, which is the single most common mismatch we see when a homeowner orders parts online before calling us.
How to identify what you have: look inside the post cap. ViewLux stamps a mold number and a production code inside the post extrusion. That code tells us the series and the extrusion wall thickness without any guesswork. For gated sections, measure the hinge side of the gate frame. ViewLux gate frames under 48 inches wide typically use a 2×3.5-inch stile; wider gates step up to 2×5.5. If a gate was installed with the smaller stile on a 6-foot opening, it sags fast, especially in Los Angeles where the dry season means repeated widening and tightening cycles from moisture loss in the soil.
On the OEM question: for panels and rails, we generally specify genuine ViewLux extrusions when we’re splicing into an existing run, because UV fade rates differ by batch and a color-close aftermarket rail will show a seam line within a season. For hardware (gate hinges, post caps, tension rods), we’re comfortable with quality aftermarket options where they exceed the factory spec. Our truck carries both for the Classic and Estate lines, and we’ll show you the price difference before ordering anything.

Signs Your ViewLux Fence Installation Is Failing
- Post lean at the corner or gate return. This is almost always a footing issue, not a panel issue. Los Angeles soil alternates between saturated winter clay and summer dryness, and a post set in a shallow pour will heave and tilt. The panel stays straight; the post moves under it.
- Rails separating from the post pocket. ViewLux rails seat into routed post slots, and in direct afternoon sun the vinyl expands enough that an undersized end trim or a stripped internal bracket lets the rail walk outward. You’ll see a consistent 1/4-to-1/2-inch gap at one post face, usually the west-facing side of the fence.
- Lattice panel sag or rattle inside the frame. The lattice insert is a separate component from the panel frame. When the locking strips crack, the insert rattles in the wind and eventually drops out of its channel. We see this most often on top-cap lattice along Crenshaw-adjacent lots where wind funnels between bungalow lines.
- Gate dragging or catching at the latch side. Vinyl gates depend on the frame stile staying square with the post. Once the post moves an inch, the hinge geometry shifts, and the gate starts eating the corner of the latch post. Repeated adjustment without fixing the post just wallows the hinge screw holes further.
- Cracked pickets at the bottom rail notch. This usually starts as a hairline at the tab lock, then spreads downward. The cause is often over-tightened fastener tabs from the original install, or a panel forced into place against an out-of-level rail. Once there’s a crack, water gets inside the extrusion and the freeze-thaw or heat cycling opens it wider.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed ViewLux fence work in Los Angeles runs within the $4,130 to $10,620 range for a full replacement. A single post replacement with re-set footing is smaller than that, which we quote as part of our written-price policy rather than force into a line-item model built for full jobs. What drives the spread: total linear footage, the number of corner and gate panels (every corner doubles the post count), whether the old concrete footings have to be broken out, and whether the grade changes enough that we need stepped panels rather than racked ones.
We price this as a written number before any work starts, parts and labor together, with the 365-Day Done Right Promise behind it. If a post cracks inside the vesting period, we come back and swap it at no charge. You won’t see a change order at the door, and the number on day one is the number on the invoice. Trevor Nash, who runs Penhallow Remodeling Los Angeles, has always worked that way: give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
We also stock parts beyond ViewLux, in case the same crewline helps elsewhere on your property: KraftMaid and Cambria components, plus Silestone for countertop runs adjacent to enclosing walls where fence work ties into landscape structure.
DIY or Call Us?
What a homeowner can reasonably check without opening anything dangerous: post plumb line, rail end gaps, latch alignment on a gate, and whether the panel top rails are still seated fully in the post pockets. Those are observation checks; they tell you whether the issue is movement or material, and they cost nothing but a level and a tape measure. If you find the panel fully seated but the post leaning, stop there: pulling the panel against a shifted post is how pickets get cracked and tabs get snapped. Vinyl fence posts are not under the same kind of load as a garage torsion spring, so we’re not going to tell you this is a life-safety hazard; but forcing a panel that’s 16 years into the Los Angeles sun is a good way to turn one $700 post job into a full replacement panel order because the extrusion snapped during the pull. If the failure is at a gate hinge post or a corner post, call us. Those carry the tension of the entire fence line, and pulling them in the wrong order lets the adjacent panels torque and crack.

FAQs

A properly installed ViewLux fence in Los Angeles should run 20 to 25 years on the panels and gates, provided the post footings were poured to the right depth the first time. What shortens that isn’t the vinyl itself; it’s irrigation overspray soaking the footing line season after season, which leads to post lean and eventual rail separation. In our experience, the panels will outlast the posts on most LA lots, especially where lawns meet fence lines and sprinklers cycle daily.
Sometimes. If the post is straight but loose in its footing, we can re-set the concrete collar around it without pulling the panel run. If the post itself is cracked or bowed, replacement is the only option that will hold. Give us a call at (213) 277-6578 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in during the inspection.
A typical Los Angeles residential fence line of 60 to 90 feet with one or two gates takes two to three working days, including pulling the old fence and hauling off the concrete. If we’re replacing only posts and reusing existing panels, it’s often a one-day job. We write the timeline into the scope before work starts, along with the arrival window, so you know when the crew will be on the job.
Our trucks carry Common Classic and Estate series posts, rails, gate hardware, and lattice for the most common Los Angeles fence runs. Less standard profiles we order direct from a ViewLux distributor, usually with a two-to-four-day lead time to the job site. We’ll give you the lead time in writing when we quote the work.
