CGI Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
A full CGI bathroom remodeling project in Los Angeles typically runs $10,620 – $33,040, depending on whether you’re replacing a shower surround, a vanity top, or gutting the whole room to the studs. We stock and install CGI-compatible trim kits, shower wall panels, and related components, and in most cases we can get the part matched to your model and scheduled for installation within a week. Most homeowners find us when a shower wall panel has separated at the seam, a trim piece has yellowed or cracked, or a vanity top edge has chipped in a way that catches every towel and drives them crazy. It starts small: a hairline gap, a little water staining at the corner. Then it grows.
Here’s the straight answer: if your CGI product is failing, you don’t have to gut the bathroom to fix it. We can often replace the failed component, match the existing finish, and have the room back in service faster and cheaper than a full remodel. And if it’s time to redo the whole bathroom, we’ll write you a price before any demo starts and guarantee the work for a full year.
Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI products cover a wide range of bathroom surfaces: shower wall surrounds, tub surrounds, vanity tops, windows, and trim. The compatibility question that actually matters is this: are you working with a CGI shower surround or a CGI vanity top? They fail differently and they’re sourced differently.
Shower surrounds and tub surrounds are the most common CGI bathroom item we get called about. These are the molded wall systems that click together over a waterproof backer. The problem: CGI has changed panel profiles over the years. An older surround from the early 2000s won’t accept a current-production trim kit without a fair amount of field modification. The only reliable way to identify the right part is to look for the molded part number on the back side of a removed panel, or measure the corner radius and the distance between panel seams. If you can’t find a number, take a photo of the panel profile from the side; that edge shape tells us more than the color ever will.
We’re an independent contractor, not a CGI dealer, which means we can source OEM parts or quality aftermarket panels that fit the same footprint. Some homeowners want OEM, some want a better panel material. We’ll walk you through both price points and let you decide. And we also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products for the times a single bathroom has mixed brands in it.

Signs Your CGI Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Panel seam separation. The joint between two shower walls opens up, usually starting at the top where warm, humid air hangs around longest. The cause is heat cycling: panels expand and contract, and over time the factory seam adhesive lets go. This is the number one CGI shower surround failure we see in Los Angeles.
- Soft spots behind the surround. You push on the wall and it gives. That means water has gotten behind the panel and saturated the drywall or backer board. This is the point where a repair becomes a removal, because the substrate (the moisture-resistant layer behind your tile or panel) is now compromised.
- Yellowing or discolored trim. The white trim pieces around a CGI surround will discolor over years of hard water and bathroom cleaners, but a rapid change usually points to a manufacturing variation or a bad batch of material. Replacement trim kits are one of the easiest fixes we do.
- Cracked or chipped vanity top edges. CGI vanity tops are solid surface; a dropped hair dryer can chip the front edge. It’s cosmetic, but it catches fibers and looks rough. We can often repair-and-refinish the edge rather than replace the whole top, at a fraction of the cost.
- Mold staining at the bottom track. The lowest point of the surround, where the wall panel meets the tub deck, collects water that never fully dries. Persistent mold there usually means the weep channels are blocked or the original caulk joint failed. Cleaning it is temporary; the real fix is pulling that bottom trim, cleaning the track, and re-seating it properly.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a CGI shower surround panel replacement runs $1,180 – $3,540 depending on whether we’re replacing one panel or the full three-wall set. A full bathroom remodel involving a CGI product, from tub-to-shower conversion up to a complete gut with new vanity, runs $10,620 – $33,040. The spread is wide because the job could mean one day of panel work or three weeks of full construction.
What drives the number up or down: whether we’re working over the existing backer or replacing it, whether the vanity and plumbing need to move, and whether tile enters the picture. Every quote we write includes the parts, the labor, the disposal, and a written line-item price before work starts. No change orders, no surprises at the door. And every job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing, every time.

You can safely identify the problem yourself: mark the seam that’s separating, feel for soft spots, note the panel number if it’s visible. That helps us quote the job over the phone.
What we don’t recommend is pulling panels yourself. Once a shower surround panel comes off, you’ll find whatever substrate is behind it, and in a Los Angeles home that’s often drywall that was never meant to be in a wet area. If the substrate is bad, you’ve now got an open wet wall and no way to seal it before we can get there. The panel also holds tension at the corners, and forcing one off can crack the adjoining panel. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools. Call (213) 277-6578 and tell us what the panel is doing; we’ll give you a price before we ever pick up a tool.
FAQs

A properly installed CGI surround should last 15 – 20 years in Los Angeles before the panels start showing seam fatigue, though the caulk joints will need refreshing every 2 – 3 years and the trim may discolor sooner depending on your water and cleaning products.
A separated seam can usually be re-bonded and re-caulked if the substrate is dry and sound, but once water has migrated behind the panel, repair will not hold: the backer is the problem, not the panel. Call (213) 277-6578 and we’ll tell you straight which situation you have.
A single-wall CGI panel replacement is a one-day job, assuming the backer is solid and we’re not chasing water damage. Full three-wall surround replacement with backer work runs two to three days from demo to final caulk.
We handle sourcing for you. We work with OEM suppliers and quality aftermarket manufacturers, and we’ll show you both options on the quote. You don’t order, store, or return anything; the part arrives in our hands and goes up when we’re on site.
