Atlas Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you’ve got an Atlas paver driveway or walkway that’s cracked, settled, or started to separate, we can match the pattern and get it repaired. Most Atlas driveway and paver repairs in Los Angeles run between $413 and $2,950 depending on how many pavers failed and what’s happening underneath them. You’ll usually notice the problem as a low spot that pools water after rain, a paver that rocks underfoot, or a section that’s pulled away from the edge restraint.
The frustrating part is that pavers rarely fail on their own. It’s almost always the base underneath: Los Angeles clay soil expands and contracts with the seasons, and years of that movement eventually shifts even a well-installed paver bed. What starts as one loose paver becomes a wobbly patch, then a visible dip. By the time most homeowners call us, they’ve been watching it get worse for six months and just want it fixed without losing the look of the original driveway.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas manufactures concrete interlocking pavers in a range of sizes and finishes, and the good news is that most of their lines are still in production. That means matching an existing driveway usually comes down to three measurements: the paver’s length, width, and thickness. The thickness is the one that trips people up. Atlas pavers for residential driveways are typically 60mm or 80mm thick, and you can’t swap one for the other without re-grading the base. If you can’t find the original paperwork, flip over a loose paver and look for the mold stamp on the underside.
We’re an independent service provider, not an Atlas dealer or affiliate. What that means practically: we source Atlas-branded pavers directly through regional masonry suppliers in the Los Angeles basin, and when a specific color or finish has been discontinued, we’ll tell you that honestly and show you the closest current match rather than installing something that looks off by three shades. Some Atlas colors weather differently than others. The lighter sand and limestone tones hold up better under Los Angeles UV than the darker charcoal and terracotta shades, which can fade unevenly on driveways that get full afternoon sun. If your driveway is a partial repair, sun fading matters more than you’d think. A brand-new dark paver next to a five-year-old one is going to stand out for a year or more until the new one catches up.

Signs Your Atlas Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Rocking or wobbly pavers underfoot. This is almost always a base problem, not a paver problem. The sand bedding layer has washed out or compacted unevenly, leaving a void under one corner of the paver.
- Water pooling in one section after rain. A properly sloped paver driveway drains within a few minutes. Standing water for hours means the base has settled below the surrounding grade, and the pavers are now holding the water instead of shedding it.
- Cracks running through individual pavers. Atlas pavers are rated for driveway loads, but if the base shifts enough, the pavers flex and crack. A cracked paver near the garage apron often means a vehicle turned on the same spot repeatedly over a weakened base.
- Edge pavers spreading or separating from the curb. The plastic or concrete edge restraint keeps the whole field locked together. Once it fails, the outside rows start drifting, and the gaps get wider every year.
- Weeds or ants pushing up between joints. Joint sand keeps pavers tight and blocks organic material. When the sand washes out, weeds get a foothold, and their roots widen the joints as they grow. Ant colonies do the same thing from below, excavating the bedding sand and leaving surface voids.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Paver repair and replacement in Los Angeles starts around $413 for a small walkway patch and climbs to $2,950 for a larger driveway section that needs base re-compaction. Full paver driveway installation runs $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, site access, and whether we’re removing an old concrete slab first. What drives the price on a repair is whether the base is still sound. If the pavers failed because of a localized issue like a leaking irrigation line or a tree root, we can often pull the affected section, fix the cause, and re-set the pavers the same day.
Every repair includes the same thing: written price before we start, the specified Atlas pavers or the closest available match confirmed in writing, new bedding sand, re-compaction of the base, fresh joint sand, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair settles or fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. Trevor Nash grew up in the Crenshaw district and has been working residential jobs across the basin long enough to know that Los Angeles clay soil misbehaves in ways that surprise homeowners. We plan for that movement in every repair.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before picking up the phone. Pull a loose paver and look at the sand underneath. If it’s damp and solid, the paver may just need re-seating. If it’s dry, powdery, or full of ant tunnels, the base is failing deeper down. You can also run a garden hose across the affected area and watch where the water goes. None of this is dangerous work.
What goes wrong with DIY paver repair is the base. Most homeowners replace the visible paver, smooth the sand, and walk away. Six weeks later the same dip is back, because the real problem was eight inches down. We’ve re-done enough homeowner patches to know the pattern. FAQs

Atlas concrete pavers on a properly compacted base typically last 25 to 30 years in the Los Angeles climate, though surface wear and color fading are noticeable after 10 to 15 years on south-facing driveways. The pavers themselves rarely fail before the base underneath them does.
A cracked paver cannot be reliably repaired; hairline cracks will keep spreading as vehicles cross them. Replacement is the standard fix, and because Atlas lines are still manufactured, matched replacement is usually straightforward. Call (213) 277-6578 for a free assessment and we’ll tell you if the crack is isolated or a symptom of a deeper base problem.
Most paver repairs in Los Angeles take one day from removal through re-compaction, re-setting, and joint sand. Larger sections with deep base failure may take two days if we need to bring in additional aggregate and compact in lifts.
We carry common Atlas paver sizes and colors on our service vehicles for standard repairs, and we order specific colors or specialty finishes from regional suppliers when needed. The same sourcing approach applies to the other materials we work with regularly, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products. For a precise match, we’ll take a sample from your driveway and confirm the color lot before installation day.
